Just everyone loves Sashay, who is the major goatkeeper's "feel good" goat, so affable and relaxed with life in general that she brings joy to all she meets, humans and goats alike! Her personality is a nice plus for all the other strengths Sashay brings to the Dawn Land herd, most especially those of her mammary system. Sashay's udder is the highest
and tightest here and, although she doesn't have the capacity or
production of her paternal half-sister Jane--who milked 900+ pounds as a two year old second freshener--her attachments and ease
of milking are exceptional. That we love Sashay's udder so much is not surprising considering that her genetics represent a very successful outcross breeding of two exceptional mammary lines going back to some of the best animals in New England (Rosasharn) and Texas (Twin Creeks and Piddlin Acres.) The consistent quality resulting from Sashay's breeding is also seen in her littermate sisters: both have freshened with well-attached mammaries and earned their AR's. And finally, Sashay has proven to be a producer of quality kids: her four year old daughter in Ohio just finished her ADGA CH in her first season (2010) of showing!
2012 BREEDING PLANS: Sashay will be bred to Top Ten production buck, Castle Rock Purple Haze*S, son
of SGH Algedi Farm H Purple Rain 4*D 2010 LA VVEE FS90/2011 LA VEEV
FS90, for a Rosasharn-based linebreeding through Haze's maternal lines and Sashay's paternal lines. We'd like to see Haze pass on his dam's production potential to these kids.

| Zing is the most stubborn of our seniors and will probably never see the show ring, as she hates being positioned and prefers to walk on her own terms. This photo, taken at six years, does not show her true qualities; she's a very elegant girl with a long neck, soft and loose skin, excellent feet and legs. Zing's not uddered up in this picture, but she has a collapsible udder with a strong medial and big, fat, plumb teats. Though not a big producer volume-wise, she's a longterm steady milker. |

Back in 2003, Zing and her sisters were our first Water Tabby daughters to be born, so she holds a very special place in our hearts. We are therefore happy to announce that, after a four year sojourn away, Zing has come home to Dawn Land to rejoin her sister Sashay (profiled above.) Prior to her return, Zing lived with Lisa Reilich and her family at the Painted Pepper Farm, the country's first all-Nigerian goat dairy. During that time, she earned her *D, her 1*M, her AR, and two quite respectable linear appraisal scores. Currently, Zing has a daughter at Painted Pepper with a similar quality udder and production of four pounds per day as a first freshener...So, we anticipate great mammary and milk potential with our homebred lady and her daughters to come! Our sincere thanks to Lisa for the opportunity to add another Tabby daughter back into the fold.
Zing's freshening here in 2009 was complicated by a severe case of pneumonia and, as a result, we didn't see the beautiful udder she presented in 2010. We especially like the strength in attachments: her teats point straight down, regardless of the amount of milk she is carrying, and her rear udder is high and wide. Zing is also aging well body-wise, and is still standing on strong legs/feet. She remained a steady milker of 2.5 pounds per day until drying off for the season.
2012 BREEDING PLANS: Zing has been bred to Rosasharn TL Curry*S twice, but the breedings appear not to have taken. We've switched sires to Curry's maternal half-brother, Rosasharn's GX Star Anise*S, whose pedigree is almost a carbon copy of CH Algedi Farm Drops of Jupiter*S "E". Star is as beautiful and super-sharp--perhaps more so--as Curry, so we have no doubts that these kids should likewise be promising. We consider Zing to be our overall best Water Tabby*S daughter thus far and we expect very dairy kids with excellent udder and milk potential.

Wasabi joined our herd in the spring of 2008 after years of gentle persuasion. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to purchase her, since the deciding factor that worked in our favour was Wasabi's propensity to have single kids (and thus not carry the astronomically high milk numbers of her heavier producing herdmates at Rosasharn.) She's no slouch in the milk pail however, having earned her AR--last milking 584# in 186 days in 2007--and she is also a milker's dream on the stand: showing a calm, dairy temperament, a well-attached mammary with soft texture, and heavenly long, plumb teats. Wasabi has also proven her value by the quality of her offspring here: we have two sons, and now a 2011 daughter too.
2012 BREEDING PLANS: In 2011, for the first time ever in her reproductive history, Wasabi kidded with multiples: quads--a doe and three bucks--long, level, super dairy kids. And, after five freshenings, Wasabi's udder is lovely; she shows a high, full rear; excellent medial; and long, plumb, centered teats, something certainly worth waiting for following two years of no kids! For 2012, Wasabi has been bred to our Water Tabby+*S replacement, son Mohawk (who is out of one of our best production does, Lost Valley TB Checotah--ARMCH LOST VALLEY TAE-BO+*S+B "E" 91.4--2009 and 2010 AGS National Champion Buck x ARMCH/GCH LOST VALLEY SUNDANCER 2*D 1*M "E" 91.6--2008 DHI: 7.04--299--1129#--91 (8.1%)--59 (5.2%) ) for late spring kids.

Dixie has many of the characteristics of our herd's original foundation does--who were of good solid Stonewall/Goodwood lines-- and we really admire her strength of bone, body capacity, and stature. We think that she will cross particularly well with our bucks, who are smaller, very refined fellows. Most importantly, Dixie comes from lines that produce capacious udders, strong medials, and big teats, all of which are paramount considerations for our milking herd. She also carries an impressive pedigree, heavy on both Raising Arizona++S and proven milk pail producers from Jobi and Gay-Mor lines.
Dixie is a gorgeous doe body-wise and, although not our strongest milker--producing about three pounds at peak--she distinguishes herself by having one of the best attached udders in the herd, with an especially smooth extended fore, pronounced laterals, a strong medial, and large, plumb easily-milked teats. Now aged six years, Dixie also continues to be an easy kidder, holding up well in both the conformation and udder departments after five freshenings.
2012 BREEDING PLANS: Dixie has been paired with NC PromisedLand RC Stormy*S*B, son of Top Ten Doe, GCH/ARMCH CAESAR'S VILLA LV BREEZY 2*D 1*M 2009 LA--90 VEEV--2009 AGS and ADGA Top Ten; 2010 ADGA National Show: High Milk and High Butterfat.) Stormy has produced some very nice kids for us in 2011, including a junior who was awarded Reserve Champion Junior Doe at her first show with her 4-H family! We'd like to see Stormy pass on his dam's milk potential and we are expecting another set of gorgeous dairy kids from one of our nicest does.

| LOST VALLEY BW POP TART (MCH Twin Creeks BH Bay Watch++*S x Lost Valley KW Hollywood 3*D)--DOB: 2/06--A very special and spoiled bottle baby, Pop Tart "earned" her name after her fondness for licking the frosting from offered pastries was discovered by the Kowaliks. Her pedigree represents a oft-repeated (and very successful) crossing of Bay Watch++*S and Kingwood++*S lines. In the tradition of Bay Watch progeny, Pop Tart is a wide, powerful, and correct doe. Pop Tart is also as sweet as the treat she is named for! Photo at Age 2.5 Years. |

KIDDING HISTORY 2010--Single Doe, DOA (Rosasharn TL Curry*S) 2011--Open
Pop Tart is the product of a cross that has worked quite well at Lost Valley: the genetics of Bay Watch++*S "E" combined with those of Kingwood++*S. Her dam, Hollywood, is a favorite of the Kowaliks and has a capacious udder with very secure attachments. Structurally, Pop Tart is a very correct and powerful doe with an arching escutcheon. We really like to contemplate Pop Tart's potential contributions to our herd.
Pop Tart was a late first freshener in 2010. Her single doe kid presented "head back" and a C-Section was required. Unfortunately, the doeling died, but Pop Tart did well with her surgery/post-op recovery and the prognosis for future breeding success is promising. Although she was dried off fairly quickly, the glimpse we caught of Pop Tart's first fresh udder was very positive: high in the rear, pronounced laterals, plumb teats and a very strong medial. She was also extremely easy to milk.
2012 BREEDING PLANS: Pop Tart will be bred to either Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S or Rosasharn TL Curry*S, both being very refined, dairy bucks whom we expect to cross well with the power and width of Pop Tart. Genetically, this pairing is a linebreeding on Kingwood++*S. There's an abundance of milk potential through the Kingwood++*S and Bay Watch++*S "E" lines in both pedigrees too, so their kids should be productive milkers as well as long-bodied and elegant. We are hoping for a doeling to retain.
