NC PROMISEDLAND RC STORMY*S*B

(Rosasharn TL Cauldron*S x ARMCH/GCH Caesar's Villa LV Breezy 2*D 1*M 2009 LA--90 VEEV)

Stormy is a promising buckling in all ways: colorwise--gotta love those moonspots; temperamentally--a clone of Water Tabby's laid-back personality; conformationally--really nice width combined with refinement; and genetically--check out his relatives' roster of Top Ten milkers and AGS National Champions. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to purchase him, as he was originally retained by his breeder. Stormy's first daughters arrived in the spring of 2011 and we are very pleased with the two we have retained, especially in regards to their dairy character, long and plumb teats, and open escutcheons.

Dam's Third Fresh Udder--We hope that Stormy will pass on that strong medial and her large plumb teats.

Stormy's dam, Breezy, is particularly strong in two areas that traditionally need improvement with Nigerian udders: medial/udder floor division and size/plumbness/position of teats. Additionally, she is a long-bodied doe with excellent dairy character AND a wide, flat rump--further strengths that we hope Stormy will consistently pass on to his progeny. Although Breezy is not the most productive milker at NC PromisedLand, hampered somewhat by her age at first freshening as well as by an abbreviated first lactation, she has milked 1016 pounds/285 days in 2009--with very respectable butterfat figures averaging 7.2%. Given Breezy's pedigree of strong milkers, combined with sire Cauldron's similar suit, we surmise that Stormy will also produce daughters with the promise of decent milk production...His 2011 daughters have arrived and meet our expectations for sound dairy character; see their photos below!

DAWNLAND TABBY'S MOHAWK

(Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S x Lost Valley TB Checotah)

Photo at Age 2 Years. Mohawk is very much a Tabby "double": super dairy and refined, long and upstanding. We are very pleased with how he is growing up!
Dam's First Fresh Udder

A bit over-bagged because we were behind on milking. As Checotah's lactation progressed, she developed a very nice medial division and more centering of her teats...a beautiful and productive udder all-around...

4/9/09 (Twin)

Tabby's 2009 son, and eventual replacement, Mohawk looks as good on paper as he does in real life. He is the product of some of the most influential Nigerians out there: three grandparents being AGS National Champions--ARMCH Goodwood Tom Thumb+*S "E", ARMCH Goodwood Water Lilly 2*D "VG", and ARMCH Lost Valley Tae-Bo+*S "E"+B, and the fourth a Top Ten Milker and dual champion--ARMCH/GCH Lost Valley Sundancer 2*D 1*M "E". Mohawk has taken the best of both parents--Tabby's length of body and refinement along with Checotah's width, body capacity, and strength--and combined them into a very uphill and handsome fellow.

In the tradition of her many female antecedents, Mohawk's litter sister first freshened in 2011 with an udder quite on par with our expectations: a wide overall area of attachment, strong medial, and perfectly centered plumb teats (a rarity in the ND world!) Hoping that Mohawk too will meet the quality challenge of his pedigree, we are pairing him with many of our most promising does for 2012 kids--check out his busy roster HERE!

Trump shows some of the best dairy character we have here and exhibits strong general conformation features too: super long-bodied with a very tight front end and a nice dishy head. Additionally, Trump is a small buck, well within height requirements. Another positive is his gentle temperament, something we look for in our milking stock. Photo at Age 7.5 Months.
