India is a rare doe, being a daughter of the renowned Stonewall's Raising Arizona++S. Although we are thrilled with that aspect of her pedigree, that's not the real reason we love her so much..Rather, it's her intelligence (she is the only goat thus far that has figured out how to escape the electric mesh) and her understated grace that have earned her a most favoured status at Dawn Land Farm. Appearance-wise, India is a petite and refined jet black doe with a beautiful mammary system that shows no signs of wear-and-tear after seven freshenings (and two sets of quads!). Her dairy character is prominent: a short, slick haircoat, the classic wedge shape to her body, her angularity and spring of ribs. India also shows impressive width in her chest and escutcheon.

We love to milk India. She has a soft and pliable udder with huge plumb teats. Her attachments and medial show no evidence of aging and her capacity is noteworthy. About the only thing we would critique udder-wise is a mild shelf in India's fore.

2009 BREEDING PLANS: India has remained open for the past few years and is now retired to live out her life here as the spoiled and benevolent herd queen.

Sale Pending With Her Water Tabby*S Daughter

DAWNLAND TABBY'S SILVER FOX (Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S x Rosasharn's Bella Linda Lou)--DOB 5/07--will continue Linda's legacy in the Dawn Land herd. Foxy's genetics are very similar to those of Rosasharn's UMT Bella Roo 3*D (Tabby's full brother x Linda's twin sister) at Silveraurora in Alaska. Bella Roo milked 6+ pounds on her One Day Test; we hope that Foxy will do as well in the future! Photo at age 3.5 Months.

Linda as a Junior Doe (Click to Open Thumbnail)

Linda is the dancing doe who prompted our farm slogan. Her graceful capers as she bounded off the milkstand to rejoin her lady friends, kicking up her heels in pure "joie de vivre", stole our hearts!

Because she is so elegant, it has been a great disappointment to us that Linda has gone over the height limit and cannot be shown as a senior doe. Linda is truly beautiful: very sharp and dairy, with high withers and a long neck. She has great body capacity with widely-sprung ribs. Her haircoat is short and fine and her skin is as delicate as paper. Linda's udder, which milks down to nothing, is very nice with a pronounced medial, soft texture, and easily expressed plumb teats. She has a very wide area of attachment and a high rear. Her fore is smoothly blended and extended, but there is a small hollow.

Linda is a willing and productive milker, and her pedigree speaks volumes about her potential in the pail. Linda's sire's lines represent six generations of * milkers. Her dam, ARMCH Rosasharn's Baby Bella*D, was Anne Petersen's favorite doe, and an excellent producer. At the point of her untimely death at age nine, Bella had a M.E. of over 1300 pounds! Additionally, Linda's twin sister, ARMCH Bella's Bonnie Too 2*D, milked over 800 pounds in 283 days as a two year old. Linda, herself, consistently milked four+ pounds daily during her 2005 lactation (our barn records over five months), after the delivery of sextuplets!

2010 BREEDING PLANS: Linda is being sold with her Water Tabby*S daughter; the two are inseparable. We are hoping for a doe kid back from a future as-yet-unspecified breeding.

Boots is irreplaceable for many reasons, including our affection for how she rules the roost in her dotage. We consider her to be our most valuable brood doe as she ages with grace and consistently produces kids better than herself. Being the progeny of some of the lates and greats of the ND world, Boots has some very notable genetics behind her. She is a Brave Heart daughter (Inavale All That Jazz x MCH Raha Acres Twink's Pixie*D "E") and her maternal grandparents (MCH Piddlin Acres Blue Thunder++*S "VG" x MCH Piddlin Acres Doe 'C' Doe "E") represent two of the nicest animals bred by Piddlin Acres.

A petite doe, Boots shows great dairy character. She is long-bodied with flat ribbing and loose dairy skin. Smoothly blended throughout, she has good width--both front and back. In the tradition of her female forebears, Boots has a beautiful udder which is softly textured, securely attached, and easily milked. Her teats are large and well-placed, but do point forward. Boots is also a productive doe for her size and we can never figure out where she hides all that milk! Her progeny are showing excellent mammary and production potential too. She has two 2003 daughters (sired by Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S) who qualified for their AR status in 2005. And, one of these daughters had her first freshening mammary system classified as "Excellent" during an ADGA linear appraisal. A 2005 daughter (sired by Twin Creeks Sudden Sea*S) has freshened in 2007 with a beautifully capacious, very widely-attached udder that is soft and collapsible. As a first freshener, Boots' Sassy won first in her class/best udder too--at only three weeks fresh with a single kid--over nine other seniors.

2009 BREEDING PLANS: Boots has remained open for several years. We have decided to retire her here and appreciate her contributions to our herd through her two best daughters, Dawnland Tabby's Sashay and Dawnland Tabby's Zing 1*M AR.

Just everyone loves Sashay, who is the major goatkeeper's "feel good" goat, so affable and relaxed with life in general that she brings joy to all she meets, humans and goats alike! Her personality is a nice plus for all the other strengths Sashay brings to the Dawn Land herd, most especially those of her mammary system.
Sashay's udder is the highest and tightest here and, although she doesn't have the capacity or production of her paternal half-sister Jane--who milked 900+ pounds as a two year old second freshener--her attachments and ease of milking are exceptional. That we love Sashay's udder so much is not surprising considering that her genetics represent a very successful outcross breeding of two exceptional mammary lines going back to some of the best animals in New England (Rosasharn) and Texas (Twin Creeks and Piddlin Acres.) The consistent quality resulting from Sashay's breeding is also seen in her littermate sisters: both have freshened with well-attached mammaries and earned their AR's. Additionally, one of the sisters also had her first freshening udder ADGA-appraised as "Excellent"!

2009 BREEDING PLANS:
Sashay will be bred to J-Nels Crazy Horse, for a linebreeding on Rosasharn genetics with the addition of some very potent Caesar's Villa milk/udder lines. These kids will combine generations of ARMCHs, AGS National Champions, and star milkers...one of our most promising breedings.

Back in 2003, Zing and her sisters were our first Water Tabby daughters to be born, so she holds a very special place in our hearts. We are therefore happy to announce that, after a four year sojourn away, Zing has come home to Dawn Land to rejoin her sister Sashay (profiled above.) Prior to her return, Zing lived with Lisa Reilich and her family at the Painted Pepper Farm, the country's first all-Nigerian goat dairy. During that time, she earned her 1*M and her AR and had her first freshening udder ADGA linear appraised "E"! Currently, Zing has a daughter at Painted Pepper with a similar quality udder and production of four pounds per day as a first freshener...So, we anticipate great mammary and milk potential with our homebred lady and her daughters to come! Our sincere thanks to Lisa for the opportunity to add another Tabby daughter back into the fold.

2009 BREEDING PLANS: Zing has been bred to Piddlin Acres PM Bootstraps, for linebreedings on both Kingwood++*S and Twink's Pixie genetics. He's a handsome, long-bodied fellow out of our Piddlin Acres Princess lines; she has a capacious, well-attached udder with huge, milkable teats and we hope to see the same strengths with these kids too.

2008--Single Buck (Rosasharn TL Galaxy*S++B)--Retained: Rosasharn GX Star Anise*S

Wasabi joined our herd in the spring of 2008 after years of gentle persuasion. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to purchase her, since the deciding factor that worked in our favour was Wasabi's propensity to have single kids (and thus not carry the astronomically high milk numbers of her heavier producing herdmates at Rosasharn.) She's no slouch in the milk pail however, having earned her AR--last milking 584# in 186 days in 2007--and she is also a milker's dream on the stand: showing a calm, dairy temperament, a well-attached mammary with soft texture, and heavenly long, plumb teats. Wasabi has also proven her value by the quality of her offspring here: we have two sons, one by Tiger L who is siring gorgeous kids, and a baby by Galaxy, who looks to be a future show prospect. And, hopefully, we will see a little doeling in 2009 to further carry on the legacy!

2009 BREEDING PLANS: Wasabi will be paired with J-Nels Crazy Horse, a match which combines strong udder and milking genetics on both sides. Really awesome kids expected as the pedigrees behind both Wasabi and Crazy Horse are full of Top Ten milkers, ARMCHs, and AGS National Show-winning animals. We plan to retain ALL doe kids.

KIDDING HISTORY
2006--Single Buck (Dawnland Sea's Lord of the Dance)
2007--Twin Does (Fairlea Arsene Lupin*S)--Retained: Dawnland FAL Tsarina

Princess has matured very nicely. She shows good dairy character with strong bone, a long, level body, and width across the chest and from thurl to thurl. Princess's first freshening udder in 2006 really impressed us with its very wide area of attachment, capacity, and LONG teats--all around beautiful! She was easily-milked, very productive, and her udder collapsed down to nothing when emptied. Princess's second udder was just as nice, but because of delivery complications and uneveness from a single kid nursing, we did not milk or show her in 2007. Nevertheless, we consider Princess to be one of our most promising seniors and we look forward to bringing her into the ring in 2009 (she remained open in 2008.)

2010 BREEDING PLANS: Unfortunately, Princess has been difficult to settle for two years. We will try again next year...Service sire to be NC PromisedLand RC Stormy*S*B. We are hoping that Stormy will pass on his tight front end, escutcheon width, and dam's production potential to a doe with an already lovely mammary and lots of dairy character.
